Camp WoodyCamp Woody is associated with the American Baptists National Ministries and functions as an inter-denominational camp. Every summer staff volunteers from around the United States come to serve God in this unique island setting. Camp Woody is run by the Kodiak Christian Retreat Center board and members represent many of the local churches in Kodiak. Campers come mainly from Kodiak and surrounding villages, but several campers do come across from mainland Alaska. Woody Island itself is three miles from Kodiak and is thirteen miles in circumference. Woody Island has five freshwater lakes, a dense forest, marshes, lagoons, cliffs, and of course Camp Woody. Woody Island is the historic home of the earliest Russian colony in the region. As well as exploring the outdoors there are also many historical explorations available. |
